Poetry in Motion-Happy New Year
Today, one of our last weekends before the end of 2009, I wanted to conduct a poem with in my twitter timeline. The tweeters have shared what is in their hearts, this is the poem we have developed today, and it felt to be properly titled "Happy New Year"
Happy New Year
The new year begins as the old one says good-bye...
Through the winter I grow,
I force my stem through the snow
Inspirational tweets drift forward in cyber space...
World events shed insights ignored,
A new year brings options we hope to be restored
To the new one we are saying 'hi'
With a lot of sound, a colorful fire comes from the cramped ground
Rain and snow flow from the sky
Calendar pages flutter to the ground
As new old leaves
Make not a sound..
'I was out, when the year came in'
Making snow angels all night long
Shocked and amazed at global changes akin
A fresh start
A quiet breath...rebirth...and new life rebounds.
Heat waves, new choices to take,
Land shifts forward in its wild quake
The cross was a dagger, the spirit entered
In the Darkness of night, I seek the light
We are stronger then we think, all the Gurus shout...
I confront 'The Pit' with laughter in my soul
A smile upon my face
May the human spirit always prevail
May someone please shed grace...
When I whispered in your ear, I spoke to your soul
With the bullets whirring past, I stood and accepted my fate
A new year ahead the world working together as a team
Possibilities opened an entirely new gate...
Letting love into dark places, rulers of hate
New songs play on, like dandelions strung together
We all too often forget things that matter.
Discovering past joys we had forgot...
Music, culture, art is a new leader's spot
As this new year begins, I say to my friends
This is not only the beginning, this year changes our end
In hopes that the lessons learned from yesteryear....
Will open a blind eye for our dreams to appear
We all wish,
Everyone
